Report: about my experience in ECLAC

 Introduction

The goal of this report is to describe and evaluate my six week’s work experiences at the ECLAC office in Washington, D.C. and to make recommendations for the future.

About the ECLAC

The ECLAC is the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean of the United Nations and is a international non-profit organization that undertakes studies, research and other support activities and promotes economic and social development through regional and subregional cooperation and integration. 

My Work Experience

During these six weeks in the Washington ECLAC office, I assigned like a research assistant and a I had 30 working hours at the week. In these 30 working hours, I had to do different tasks, like read other studies, meet with other researches, make data analysis, and meet everyday with the research team to comment on progress. 

The facilities available for me that an office of the research team, the different common spaces, and the library. My colleagues were good workers, whit a good driving of their disciplines and they was very committed with the team and de research. The dress code was semi formal almost days, and formal when they had presentations or something like that.

Evaluation of my experience

On the whole, I think that this six weeks was totally beneficial to my formation and to my personal growth because I can see how is the working world, and I see that in a space very important and recognize In this place, I met to very important people to the social sciences, so I found that is a big opportunity for mi future professional career. Also, and the most important think, is that I can contribute for the social development of my region. 

Conclusion

To conclude, the ECLAC is an ideal place for sociology and social sciences students because is a very good experience to get work experience, make contacts and research. I totally recommending that we send other students to the ECLAC.
